Delivering Cinematic Drone Filming for One of Japan's Biggest Television Programmes
When Beaumont Studio was approached by Paola Bruno of Wonderfixer s.r.l., a production fixer based in Rome, the brief was both exciting and challenging. Acting on behalf of Nippon TV, Wonderfixer required a trusted UK drone production company to provide aerial filming for ItteQ: Let's Challenge the World, one of Japan's most watched and longest-running travel and entertainment television programmes.
Broadcast to millions of viewers, ItteQ takes its presenters to remarkable locations around the world, showcasing unique experiences, stunning landscapes and extraordinary adventures. For this episode, filming centred on two iconic Hampshire & Wiltshire landmarks, the world-famous Stonehenge and a recently discovered crop circle near Salisbury.
The Brief
The production required a professional drone filming partner capable of working seamlessly alongside an international television crew while capturing cinematic aerial footage of both locations and supporting the programme's presenters throughout filming.
Unlike a conventional location shoot, the crop circle presented a unique logistical challenge. The exact field could not be confirmed until the day before filming, as crop circles appear in different locations each season and access depends entirely on the individual landowner. This meant the production schedule needed to remain flexible until the final location was confirmed.
Fortunately, once the location was identified, it was an area Beaumont Studio had operated in several times before. Our previous experience flying within the surrounding landscape meant we already understood the terrain, suitable launch locations, local operating considerations and how to maximise the visual impact of the aerial footage.
The filming schedule itself was demanding, with multiple shoots taking place throughout the day, including early morning starts and late evening finishes to capture the best available light. As with any television production, timings changed regularly and flexibility was essential to ensure every required shot was captured.
